Yeah, I really don’t know what DC was thinking when they released that redesigned “New 52″ Lobo. Beautiful art. Great design for a character. But … not Lobo. As in “totally missed the point and lost everything that people liked about the character”. Granted, the popular version (the Keith Giffen/Simon Bisley treatment) wasn’t the original design of the character, but it was the one that worked. So I was dismayed that they’d seemingly tossed that out, removing the things that made him distinctive … and I’m not even a Lobo fan.

But after seeing this, I’m a Logan Kowalsky fan. This is everything Lobo should be: crude, huge, scruffy, huge, intimidating, humorously violent, huge, violently humorous, … and huge. Seriously. As I’ve commented, one of the tricky things about the Nude 52 is capturing the characters without the help of their costumes. Granted, (this version of) Lobo is pretty distinctive regardless. But even without his trademark space-biker gear, you know in an instant that this is the guy who murdered his entire planet to match Superman.
